    Work for the betterment of people despite political differences - President Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena emphasised on the importance of serving the public irrespective of their party agendas.

    The President said the public representatives should work for the betterment of the people despite their political differences. He said that all political parties should work in binding agreement.

     

    President Sirisena expressed these views addressing a conference with Provincial Council and grassroots level representatives at the BMICH, Colombo. President Sirisena said a coordinated effort should be made on development initiatives at provincial and national levels.

     

    The President also emphasised that Parliament and Provincial Councils should be mindful of preventing corruption and misappropriation as they deal with public money.


    The President added that special attention should be given to the efficiency and the implementation of plans in Provincial Councils.

     

    Addressing the event, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that people’s representatives should be transparent and accountable when spending public money and resources.
