The newly built fence around the historical Bodhi Tree of the Swarnapali Rajamaha Viharaya in Swarnapaligama in Polonnaruwa was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday (03).
The President visiting the Raja Maha Viharaya engaged in religious activities. The President also called on chief incumbent of the Rajamaha Viharaya Venerable Higulwala Kushalagnana Thera.
The Venerable Thera brought to the notice of the President , development lapses in the area.
A large crowd gathered to see the President and he also had a cordial discussion with the public. The President promised to implement infrastructure development programme that are much sought after in the area.
