    President highlights the importance of vocational training Featured

    The President who visited the Pothuvila Sri Sooriyabandara Rajamantindarama Viharaya in Payagala Tuesday, engaged in religious observances and unveiled the golden fence erected around the Bo Tree at the Temple.

    Addressing the event Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the present government will take steps, to implement a broad social transformation through planning and vocational education.

     

    President Sirisena also presented certificates to students who completed the computer science program at the Sirilak Computer Training Center affiliated to the Temple. During the event, he stated that it is important to strengthen vocational training within the country. However the President noted that there is a low percentage in the number of students who enroll in technical colleges and vocational training institutes in the country.

     

    President also emphasized that it is the responsibility of individuals within the divisional secretariat who are given the task of improving vocational education to ensure that students are made aware of these possibilities and to motivate students towards vocational education.

     

    Maha Sangha of the area, Minister Rajitha Senarathna and Beruwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Kushman de Silva were present.
