The farmers offer the first part of the yield harvested from the Maha cultivation season, wishing a bountiful harvest at the next cultivation season. The President also joined the farmer community in offering the harvest and engaging in religious observances.

Thereafter the President paid a courtesy call on Chief Incumbent of the Somawathie Raja Maha Vihare, the Ven. Pahamune Sumangala Nayake Thera and made inquiries into his wellbeing. Parallel to this event, the President also launched the work related to the construction of the safety sand bund to prevent the damage caused to the Sacred Site as a result of floods. Several Parliamentarians joined in this occasion.
