    President opens Sevanapitiya Public Fair Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that the development of the economy of the farming community will be considered as a priority of the Government and a policy. The President mentioned this on Sunday (12) while vesting in the public the Sevanapitya Public Fair built at a cost of 20 million rupees.

    The President said that the development of the economy of farmers led by the paddy farmers, is a priority of the present Government. He said that the Weekly Fair which was opened would add value to the area. He further said Weekly Fairs are valuable to the local farmers and it is also a part of the culture of the country.

     

    The Sevanapitya Weekly Fair can accommodate 350 traders at once. Welikanda Sevanapitiya Trade Fair built under Trade Fair Development Project, was constructed with the assistance of businessmen and the Government. The new Weekly Fair will provide the people in the area to sell their produce. The President handed over financial assistance for 250 Mahaweli Settlers.
