    Lanka, Pakistani leaders to hold bilateral talks Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena who arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan yesterday is due to hold bilateral talks with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (April 6).

    He will also hold discussions with the Speaker, Defence Minister and several highly placed state officials.

     

    Following the talks, a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed along with agreements of cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Sharif and President Hussain will host separate state banquets in honour of the visiting President.


    Elaborate arrangements have been made in Islamabad to receive President Sirisena with large banners, flags and hoardings being erected to welcome him.

     

    The President is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Secretary Chithranganee Wagishwara, Ministers A. H. M. Fowzie, Rishard Bathuideen, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Air Chief Marshall Jayalath Weerakkody and Army Commander Lieutenant General A.W.J.C. de Silva.
