This temple was set up with the pioneering efforts of Anagarika Dharmapala in 1926. It is the most important place of worship and reverence for the British Buddhist community.

The Chief Incumbent Monk of the Temple Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Thera received the President on arrival at the Vihara premises. President Sirisena inquired about the health of the Ven. Thera.

Ven. Thera said President Maithripala Sirisena has become the common leader of all Sri Lankans by winning the Presidential Election contesting as ‘The Common Candidate.” It is a pride for Sri Lankans living away from their Motherland, the Thera added.
