President Maithripala Sirisena was warmly welcomed by Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran this morning when the President arrived in Jaffna on his first visit to the North.
President Maithripala Sirisena commenced his first visit to Northern and Eastern Provinces today after assuming the office and this visit signifies President Sirisena’s dedication to fulfill his responsibility for the reconciliation among all communities.
When Sri Lanka celebrated its 67th Independence Anniversary in February, the President addressing the nation said although by 2009, after the defeat of LTTE terrorism, and bringing peace to our land, although we had the opportunity to take the physical resources of the land forward towards development, we were unable to bring together the minds of the people of the North and South.
