    February 07, 2015
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has pointed out that a major part of the pledges given to the people had been honoured within a short span of three weeks.
The President who met the Government and Semi Government Trade Union Collective on Friday (06), emphatically mentioned that the main target of his Government was to restore all privileges that were deprived from the working class.

President  Sirisena underscored that he will not forget throughout his lifetime the dedication made by Trade Union representatives on behalf of his victory at the last Presidential election.

Trade Union representatives expressed their gratitude to the Government to the relief endowed to the people. The curtailment of the votes of the President and the reduction of the number of Ministerial portfolios came in for acclamation of the Trade Union representatives. They appealed to the President to grant relief to those who were politically victimized under the previous administration.
