The President reiterated that the intention of the government in giving motor cycles to public servants was not to gain political mileage but to help public servants to discharge their duties efficiently.
The Common Opposition Candidate recently has said that Motor Cycles will be given free of charge if they vote for him and by this message the people should clearly understand what the opposition's aim is, the President added.
The President throughout the day while touring the Kandy District held many public rallies in several areas. He visited Kadugannawa around 5pm, yesterday and a large crowd was present to greet him. The rally was organized by the Yatinuwara District SLFP Organizer and Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekera.
Former UNP organizer of the Yati Nuwara Electorate Nihal Gunasekara and member of the Pradesiya Sabha Udhdhika Pathirana joined the rally pledging support forPresident Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential Election.
Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Tissa Attanayake, Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Wayamba Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera were present.(KH)
