    Buddhist delegation from thailand call on Sri Lankan President

    The eight-member Buddhist delegation from Thailand who are on a pilgrimage to Sri Lanka met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on April 26. 
     
    President  Rajapaksa ommending the support being given to Sri Lanka by Thailand at international fora said that Sri Lanka has a strong friendship with Thailand and the ties between the two countries, both practicing Theravada Buddhism, are strong .
     
    Tthe Monk fromUdon thani Province in Thailand Ven Longpoha Somkiyat Chithamarong Nayake Thera  chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on the President.
     
    At the end of their visit the delegation will take back to Thailand three Bo saplings and three five-foot high Buddha statues and Sacrred Relics from the Kothmale Mahaweli Maha Seya Viharaya. The President offered a Bo sapling to the Thai delegation yesterday.
     
      Coordinator Ms Peni Kumbari and Coordinating Secretary to the President on Religious Affairs Ven. Watinapaha Somananda Thera, Global Tsunami Relief Services president and Associate Director Ven. Kirama Dhammananda Thera were also present on the occasion.
