    President Presides at the National Convention of 'Rata Viruvo' Organisation

    The President said that avenues will be opened for migrant workers, who are the highest foreign exchange earners to the country, to earn with dignity. He said on behalf of the migrant workers “Rataviruvo” Organization was created in 331 divisions.   Nearly 12,500 families have been given housing loans. It was decided to create a pension scheme in the budget taking into consideration the great service they render to the country in order to make their future safe when they are unable to work anymore, added the President.

    President Mahinda Rajapaksa was addressing the National Convention of the 'Rataviruvo' Organization (migrant workers Association): at Temple Trees on  Sunday (09). It was organized by the Foreign Employment Bureau.

     

    The President further said that the country was united by the Ranaviruvo (Brave soldiers) while the Rataviruvo (migrant workers) strengthened the country’s economy.  Many people did not understand these matters, he said.  The government’s  aim was to mould the individuals to develop the family, then to develop the village and thereby to build the country.

     

    Minister Dilan Perera, Monitoring MP Upeksha Swarnamali, Foreign Employment Ministry Secretary Nissanka Wijeratne, Foreign Employment Bureau Chairman Amal Sendhilankara  were present on the occasion.(KH)
