The 47th commemoration ceremony of late politician D.A. Rajapaksa and awarding of Sisura Scholarships by the D.A.Rajapaksa Foundation was held on Froday (07) at Tangalle Urban Council under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
At the occasion the D.A. Rajapaksa commemorative oration was delivered by Professor Patrick Rathnayake.
Subsequently, the President handed over scholarships to 200 children of low income families who passed the GCE Ordinary Level examination. The scholarships are being awarded annually by the D.A.Rajapaksa Foundation.
Also the President awarded prizes to winners of the debate and essay competition held among students to mark the D.A.Rajapaksa 47th commemorative programme.(KH)
