The Deputy Minister said so while responding to a query raised by UNP Kurunegala District MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

Deputy Minister Mithrapala said that sophisticated machinery would be imported to facilitate the dairy sector growth. Of the total local consumption of milk, curd production was around 40 percent. Production of milk was carried out by the Milco and the National Livestock Development Board coming under the purview of government while there was large number of private enterprises also contributing for the growth of dairy sector, the minister added.
