    Electricity to 164 Villages in the North before end of 2014 - Pavithra

    Electricity supply will be given to 164 villages in the North which does not have electricity  before the end of this year, Minister of Power and Energy Pavithra Wanniarachchi said in Parliament.
     
    She was responding to a question raised by UNP MP Sajith Premadasa.
     
     
    Minister Pavithra wanniarachchi further said that action will be taken to deduct the expenditure incurred in supplying electricity to the people in the North from electricity bills through Divi Neguma Projects.  She also said further consideration will be made to grant special concessions to the people in the north with regard to electricity.
     
     
    The President in the Budget 2015 has proposed a 25% tariff reduction  for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that use below 300 units while 15% reduction for  other sectors and industrial sector. 
     
     
     Minister Wanniarachchi pointed out that she did not say that corruption has taken place in procurement of coal for Norochcholai Coal Power Plant but what she said was a loss has incurred in this regard.  She noted that action will be taken to recover the loss e  in accordance with the investigation report.(KH)
