Sri Lanka has completed Millennium Development Goals such as alleviation of poverty, providing education for all primary children and reducing infant mortality rate, the President said.
He pointed out the number of children, entering to primary education has now increased from 94% to 98.8%. He said a program will be launched to send every child in this country to school, from today - the Universal Children’s Day - onwards.
The President was addressing the Universal Children’s Day national ceremony at the premises of the National Youth Services Council at Maharagama Wednesday morning (Oct. 01).
The President also pointed that a positive attitude should be built in children to provide them a good education.
‘We should tell them good about the country and media has an important role in this regard’, the President further stated.(PM/KH)
