A 5-storey District Secretariat Complex vested with the public

Some are shedding crocodile tears when an election is around the corner. They do not consider the rights of the working class and I am sure the Government Servants are aware of the period when workers numbering hundreds of thousands were removed from service due to trade union actions. Also Public Servants' salaries were not increased and attempts were taken to reduce the strength of Public Service, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The President speaking on the occasion of opening the newly constructed District Secretariat Complex in Monaragala on Tuesday (02), further said that the present government has strengthened the Government Service. The people are intelligent, they cannot be cheated for petty political gains, added the President.

The President also pointed out that the Government Servants are duty bound to provide an efficient service to the people with the use of modern technology.

The President also declared open the Bank of Ceylon branch at the complex.

Ministers W.D.J.Senevirathna, Sumedha G.Jayasena, Vijith Wijithamuni de Soysa, Johnston Fernando, Jagath Pushpakumara, Mahinda Amaraweera, Parliamentarians Vijitha Berugoda, Public Administration Ministry Secretary P.B.Abeykoon, Monaragala District Secretary A.Pathinathan were present.(KH)
