The President was addressing a massive crowd present at the opening of the Madulla Multi-Purpose Trade Centre in Madulla, Dambagalla in the Bibile electorate on Sunday (31).
President said that the people of Uva have sacrificed immensely for the freedom of the country and they have always stood by the UPFA. He further said that the country is placed on a rapid development track and the government has placed its attention to initiate a project to supply purified sea water as is being done in Maldives and in other countries. He said this will bring relief to drought stricken areas.
The first phase of the Multi-Purpose Trade centre was constructed at a cost of 25 million rupees and the whole project is estimated to cost 70 million rupees.
Minister Vijith Wijithamuni De Soyza Sumedha G. Jayasena, Nirmala Kothalawala, Felix Perera, Johnston Fernando, Mervin Silva, S.M.Chandrasena, Deputy Minister Sarath Weerasekara and Chief Minister of the North Central Province S.M Ranjith and party representatives of the province were present at the ceremony.(KH)
