    President graces 'Colombo Air Symposium 2018' inaugural ceremony Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena graced the inaugural ceremony of the 4th 'Colombo Air Symposium' today (18 October). The State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne PC were also present at the ceremony held at the Eagles' Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall in Attidiya, Colombo, this morning.


    The flagship event of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Colombo Air Symposium 2018 is being held under the theme 'Air Strategy in Substantiating the Geo-Strategic Importance of Sri Lanka'.
    The inaugural ceremony of this two-day conference began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the President and other distinguished guests. Later the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy presented a memento to the President to mark the occasion.
    The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the Sri Jayawardenepura University.The Symposium provides a gateway to unite local and international military and other intellectuals into a common platform to discuss and examine in depth the conformable air strategy in substantiating the Geo-strategic importance of an island nation with special emphasis to Sri Lanka.
