Rs. 2.5 billion spent for conservation of archeological sites in -PM ^Featured

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says it is no use of claiming 'Sinhala Buddhist' to obtain the votes without preserving the ancient historic Buddhist temples to tell the world about their glory.The Prime Minister said the present government has spent Rs. 2.5 billion for the conservation of Buddhist and Archaeological sites during the three years since 2015. In contrast, the last government from 2012 to 2014 had only spent Rs. 1.1 billion, he said.

Accordingly, everyone can understand who genuinely care about the heritage of Sri Lanka, the Premier said.Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as the chief guest was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the national program for conservation and development of the Anuradhapura Raja Maha Vihara community on Tuesday (14) .

The Prime Minister who came to Anuradhapura visited the Sri Maha Bodhi and called on the Atamasthanadhipathi Pallegama Siri Nayaka Thera.The Prime Minister also participated in opening of the renovated No. 17 pond of the Maha Vihara project and the opening of the stone wall of the Sri Maha Bodhi. He also commenced the reconstruction work of the Lovamahapaya Prasadaya
