    Sri Lanka to support India's United Nations Security Council membership bid Featured

    Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has assured that the island neighbor will support India's bid for the United Nations Security Council membership, according to Indian media reports. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was visiting India's Andhra Pradesh on a personal pilgrimage to Tirupati Temple in Chittoor district on Friday has made this disclosure to media.

    The Premier speaking briefly to the reporters has said that Sri Lanka seeks the help of Indian Government and Tamil Nadu State government to sort out issues regarding the fishermen.He has also spoken with M.K. Stalin, the son of the ailing DMK Leader, M. Karunanidhi who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

    "I contacted Stalin and enquired about the health condition of Karunanidhi. We prayed to the Lord for his speedy recovery," Sri Lankan Premier was quoted by Express News.Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, accompanied by his wife Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe and several ministers on Friday Wickremesinghe offered prayers at the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala.
