    Prime Minister emphasizes on export economy based on knowledge

    Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has emphasized that the country should be developed through an export economy based on knowledge. Speaking at an event held yesterday to open a new building at Monaragala Mahanama National School, the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said new programs are needed to develop the villages in addition to the ones already implemented by the government such as Gramashakthi and Gamperaliya programs.

    He said the program to create an export economy based on the knowledge, should be commenced from schools.The Premier today participated in several functions held in the Moneragala area under his patronage, the state independent TV reported.

    The laying of foundation for the proposed shopping complex near Monaragala Old Bus Stand at a cost of Rs. 58.5 million, took place under the patronage of Prime Minister. The Prime Minister also declared opened the new building of Monaragala Mahanama National School. He opened the school's two storied Aesthetic Unit and exchanged views with the students.

    The opening of a new building at Bibila, Medagama, Pothubandana temple took place under the p atronage of the Premier. He also laid the foundation stone for the multipurpose building. Ministers Range Madduma Bandara and Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa also spoke at the events
