    Government will build a new library for ola manuscripts

    The National Buddhist Think Tank met yesterday (13th Dec.) with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat.

     

    This is the 9th time that the National Buddhist Think Tank held its meeting under the patronage of President and they discussed about the implementation of the decisions taken at previous meetings effectively. ‎

     

    It was decided to provide 10,000 desk and chair sets to Piriven schools under the programme adopted earlier and it was mentioned that those desks and chairs will be distributed among Pirivens in the near future.

     

    Furthermore, it was discussed regarding the progress of the programme to edit and publish of the new Buddha Jayanti Tripitaka Series.

     

    The attention was also drawn to implement a programme to preserve the puskola poth (ancient ola manuscripts) at Temples across the country and to build a new library for ola manuscripts.

     

    Attention was also paid to implement programmes to promote reconciliation and mutual understanding among the different communities as well as to set up inter-religious committees at regional level in this regard while getting the assistance of  religious leaders and public servants.
