The President was speaking at the annual prize giving ceremony of Princess of Wales’ College, Moratuwa on Thursday (9th Nov.).
He said the building of scholars and intellectuals is important to the future of the country. “Accordingly, there should be no shortages in education. It is essential to provide all resources on this regard”, he said.
Meanwhile, the annual prize giving ceremony of Methodist High School in Moratuwa was also held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, on Thursday.
Speaking at this occasion, the President said the government will fulfill its responsibilities to build a better future for the children. He said the children should act courageously not only to pass exams but also to win the life.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to save children from drug menace and stated everybody of the society should fulfill their responsibilities in this regard.
A commemorative stamp was also issued to mark the 175th anniversary of this school.
