The program is carried out by the Presidential Secretariat in keeping with a concept of the President to build a better environment for the physical and mental growth of the children and to protect them. Save children from various menaces in society, prevent child abuse, ensure the protection of children, enhance of their good health condition, nutrition and welfare, personality development, and develop their education and life skills are among the objectives of this program.
The launching ceremony of this program was held in September 2017 in Provincial Sports Complex in Digana, Kandy. The national plan 2017 – 2019 on this regard was declared at that ceremony.
Several programs including the modernization and reconstruction of 05 Children’s Home in the relevant district, distribution of reverse osmosis water purification systems to 20 schools which lacks clean drinking water facilities, with the aim of preventing the spread of chronic kidney disease among the children, under the Sustainable School Program a provision of Rs.50,000 will be given to selected 381 schools, providing equipment such as wheel chairs, canes, spectacles for differently-abled children, development of selected 45 Montessori and distribution of schools bags among 1,000 school children, were held under this .
A large number of programs will be implemented by the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs at the Polonnaruwa District Summit tomorrow. Those programs will be active in the districts of Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa and Ampara.
Some programs to promote the children’s interest for reading are carried out under Daruwan Surakimu National Program. Rs. 250 million has been allocated to carry out special tasks in year 2018 under this program. There will be a mobile service to undertake complains and provide counseling services tomorrow. The Presidential Secretariat will implement the program ‘Anagathaya Dinana Daruvo’ (Children who will win the future), under Daruwan Surakimu National Program.
