Sri Lanka created a record of parliament democracy - PM

    October 04, 2017

The government has to develop the country to ensure economic prosperity. We are not only celebrating the 70th anniversary but a record of creating a history of 70 years of democracy, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He made these comments at the special Parliamentary session held on (3rd Oct.) to celebrate 70 years of parliament democracy.

We got a grounding in parliament tradition and to act responsible towards the people. We should be thankful to leaders such as D.S.Senanayaka, Molamure and S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike said the Prime Minister.

The government passed the 20th amendment in 2015. We should be thankful for the steps taken by President Maithripala Sirisena such as creating independent commissions and further strengthening parliament.

The president is dedicated to finding a political solution to the ethnic problem which is the main national problem. We couldn’t get the expected results of the open economy due to the war.

The country has to develop fast and achieve economic prosperity. The government is dedicated to it. I request fellow MPs to find a political solution to the ethnic problem while ensuring a speedy development.
