The Mahanayakes of the Malwaththa the Asgiriya Chapters Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera and Most Ven. Warakagoda Dhammadassi Gnanaratne Thera and the Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela extended their gratitude to President Maithripala Sirisena for donating funds for gold plating the golden canopy of the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The President made this donation, responding to a request made by the Mahanayake Theros of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.
The President handed over the cheque to the Kandy District Secretary H.M.P. Hitisekara at the Presidential Secretariat, on 22nd August.
