President Maithripala Sirisena paid his last respects to late Flight Sergeant Y.M.S. Yaparathne at his residence in Kotugoda.
The fire fighter succumbed to his injuries at the Karapitiya hospital where he was admitted to after he sustained a fall from the helicopter he was suspended from during rescue operations.
The President also expressed his deepest sympathies to the family members.
