    President requests politicians to serve public without divisions Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena requested all the politicians to fulfill their collective responsibility without trying to make divisions among themselves when serving the public.


    He said that it is not appropriate to make divisions among politicians in the process of developing the country and all the politicians must unite to build this country for the betterment of its citizens.


    He made these remarks joining a meeting with the members of the Ceylon Workers Congress, held at the C.L.F. Vocational Training Center in Kotagala, yesterday (9th Feb.).


    “According to the perspective of the Government all citizens are equal”, the President said that adding when taking forward the development strategies of the Government, there should not be differences between party politics, race or religion.


    The President said the government will ensure the right of every community to live in a fair and just society. He said the government will provide every required facility for them. “It is the government’s objective to free the people from poverty and provide them a better living condition”, he said.


    He also stated that the government has paid special attention to solve the problems of the people who are living in plantation estates including Nuwara Eliya.


    The President was welcomed by the leader of Ceylon Workers’ Congress and he had cordial discussions with party members at this occasion.


    Ministers Arjuna Ranatunga, Faizer Mustafa, State Minister Sendil Thondaman and P. Rameshwaran participated.
