President Maithripala Sirisena has informed the Cabinet of Ministers that his second anniversary in office should be celebrated without unnecessary festivals and displays.
His second anniversary celebration in office falls on 08th January 2017.
Meanwhile, all public institutions have been instructed to commence projects that can be implemented immediately under 2017 budget proposals and to commence development activities that are more fruitful to the public in line with this celebration.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
