President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (1st Sept.) congratulated the athletes contingent who are participating in the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games at the President’s Official Residence.
The President commended the team who are participating at the Paralympics Games amidst many sacrifices by them to make the Motherland proud. “As a Government we will do whatever we can do to uplift the standard of the field of sports,” he added.
The President also presented cash prizes for the sportsmen/women.
Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara also participated.
