Meeting with Chief of Air Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Amanat the official residence in Colombo yesterday (9th Aug.) he said that he would call for such cooperation at the next Summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
President Sirisena expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for the continuous assistance provided for trainingthe Sri Lankan security personnel, and for extending support at international forums. He also conveyed his condolences over the death of more than 55 civilians in a dastardly terrorist attack in the Baluchistan Provincial capital, Quetta on August 7.
Air Marshal Amanalso conveyed greetings from Pakistani Prime minister Nawaz Shariff to President Sirisena, and briefed the President on the events leading to recent tension in the Indo-Pakistan border.
Commander of Sri Lanka Air ForceGagan Bulathsinghala, and Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Shakeel Hussain were also present.
