According to President Maithripala Sirisena, the methods in use to enter children to schools create issues and gets widely criticised. “All successive governments amended the school admission systems. But none of these amendments were successful,” said President speaking at the annual prize giving ceremony of the Royal College, Colombo yesterday (23rd June).
“Authorities should focus on this matter to prevent parents from struggling to enter their children to schools. The government will also provide all facilities to make each and every school a popular institution,” he said.
President Sirisena requested the school principals to provide required guidance and contribution to enhance the quality of the schools, which are not competitive, to the level of the popular schools. President recognised 35 outstanding students and 18 dedicated teachers during the prize giving.
