Minister of Tourism Development, Christian Religious Affairs, and Lands John Amarathunga yesterday (22nd June) in Parliament assured lands with new 350 houses for the people in Panama, whose lands were acquired during the Rajapakse regime in 2010.
Minister was responding to a question from the Chief Opposition Whip, JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake under the standing orders 23 (2). “A housing project is implemented in this area and we will make sure to treat them all fair and equally,” he said.
According to MP Dissanayake, 1,220 acres have been acquired forcefully in 2010 and the people are now under the shelter of Navy and Air Force.
