State Music Awards Ceremony 2016, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs with the aim of promoting local musical industry was held yesterday (21st June) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Nelum Pokuna theatre.
President Sirisena felicitated musicians for their contribution and also recognised Professor V. Balaji of Varanasi University, India who attended the ceremony as a special guest.
Minister S.B. Navinna, the Director of Department of Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Anusha Gokula , Scholars and artists including Chairman of the State Musical Advisory Board , and Dr. Dayarathna Ranathunge were present.
