The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the report of the committee public representations about constitutional reforms would also be submitted to the Parliamentary select committee appointed by the Parliamentary Constitutional Council as well as its subcommittees and all political parties.

The Prime Minister said this when the report of the committee on public representations of Constitutional Reforms was handed over to him by members of the committee at Temple Trees on Tuesday. Committee’s Chairman Lal Wijenaike handed over the report to the Prime Minister on behalf of the committee.

The Prime Minister who thanked committee Chairman Lal Wijenaike and other committee members for the task accomplished by them said people who could not express their views would be given an opportunity submit their recommendations in writing.

He said the government led by President Maithripala Sirisena was taking steps to establish the country’s identity and strengthen democracy through a strong new Constitution.

The support of Parliament has been received for the endeavour. That is why all parties agreed to work as a Constitutional Council, he said.
