A special meeting regarding this was held today (16th May) morning at the Presidential Secretariat. Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon presided the meeting on the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The President further instructed the Minister of Disaster Management, Secretary of Defence, Commanders of Tri Forces, and the IGP to be vigilant about disaster situations that can occurred in the future.

President Sirisena also emphasized the need of implementing a comprehensive program to apprise the public on natural disasters that could occurre.
