    President discusses issues related to Coconut & Palmyrah products Featured

    A group of representatives of the Colombo Trade Association and the Federation of the coconut and Palmyrah products Co-operative Societies of the North and North West met President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (11).

    During the discussion the representatives apprised the President regarding the issues and problems pertaining to their respective businesses.

     

    The entrepreneurs requested the President to reduce taxes on coconut and Palmyrah based products as well as to provide possible reliefs to them considering the difficulties faced by them.

     

    President Sirisena told the entrepreneurs to submit their grievances in writing and said that he will take steps to provide speedy solutions to those issues after discussing the matters with the relevant officials.

     

    The Federation of the coconut and Palmyrah products Co-operative Societies of the North and North West invited the President to participate in the ceremony to be held in the next July to celebrate the International Co-operative Day.

     

    The President was presented a special memento by the Colombo Trade Association during the event.

     

    Minister Mano Ganesan, Al Haj Y.M. Ebrahim, chairman of the Colombo Trade Association, Secretary of the Association, Nakan Kaneshan, chairman of the Federation of the coconut and Palmyrah products Co-operative Societies of the North and North West, and others participated in this event.
