This advertisement depicts a mother who pawns her earrings at a pawning centre. This woman comes out of the pawning centre with little money in hand and as she comes out, a banner headline goes "Lets chase this government out".
This was stated by Minister Wimal Weerawansa addressing a media conference in Colombo yesterday.
The Minister said that pawning centres have been in existence for decades and the people used to pawn their valuables to obtain money in an emergency. He said that this advertising outfit is tasked to give more publicity to trivial issues in society, and matters that could create communal and religious animosity with the ulterior motive of inciting the public against the government.
