The students who won first, second and third places in biology, physics, commerce, arts, engineering technology, bio system technology and common subject stream of AL – 2015, met the President yesterday (Jan. 27) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The President who appreciated the skills of these students extended his best wishes for their studies in the future. Addressing the students he said they should be dedicated to win the life similar to the way they passed the exam.
President Sirisena presented the gifts to these students at this occasion. The students were presented laptops sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka company while the People’s Bank offered cash gifts. Sri Lanka Telecom offered Rs. 200000 worth broadband packages for each student for their usage from the beginning to the end of their university studies.
The Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom Mr. Kumara Sirisena presented the letter expressing willingness to offer 30 scholarships to those who passed the AL – 2015 with high marks, for Sri Lanka Technological University to the President at this occasion.
These scholarships will be offered to 20 students who got high marks at district levels, five students from the families of war heroes and five children of those who became disable during the war in the North.
Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, State Minister of Education V. Radakrishnan and the Commissioner General of Examinations also were present at this occasion.
