This was stated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the mammoth victorious rally of the UPFA of the Matara district held in the Akuressa town Tuesday (25) evening. An unprecedented crowd that had never seen in the Akuressa town attended the rally by approaching the ground from all access roads to the Akuressa town shouting jubilant slogans and condemning the Geneva conspiracy and the opposition collaborators.
The President said that the victory of the UPFA in the elections is certain and it would be the victory of the whole country.
Speaking further the President said due to the folly of some past leaders of this country we lost the country to the foreign forces and some of the present leaders too are acting in the same manner cooperation and collaborating with the hegemonic and neo-colonialist foreign forces. He said that those who indulge in politics with hatred and animosity are betraying the country and emphasized that he will never allow the foreign forces to colonize this country once again.
The President said that at a time the country is undergoing a huge development process after liberating the country from 30 years of terrorism certain elements with petty political motives are slinging mud at the government and spread false propaganda to mislead the people. He said that when the development in the country can be seen by everyone in all the corners and even foreigners acknowledge it some vicious elements are blind to these development and they are betraying the country and the nation.
The President stated that the country has now being developed in all sectors and the Hambantota harbor which was branded as a harbor for which ships do not arrive has become the South Asian harbor that imports and transship maximum number of vehicles.
Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dallas Allahapperuma, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene, Dilan Perera, Deputy Ministers Wijaya Dahanayake, Hemal Gunasekera, Sanath Jayasuriya, Premalal Jayasekara and a large number of regional politicians attended the meeting.
