He stated this at the Parliament participating at the second reading debate of the budget 2016 on Thursday.
When you consider about the rural schools, there is a large number of schools which do not have sanitary facilities in their school premises. Therefore, Rs. 4000 millions has been allocated by the budget to provide those facilities, he said.
Minister Harrison further said that this budget has provision to establish 25 estate schools as secondary schools. Akso provisions have been provided by the budget to exempt taxes in importing school books and Magazines, Under the guidance of President Maithripala Sirisena, an outstanding amount of fundshave been allocated for university students giving priority to establish hostel facilities for them, the Minister emphasised.
