He participated in the 88th birth anniversary of Mrs.Sybil Wettasinghe held on Saturday (Oct. 31) at the M.D. Gunasena Lilian Auditorium in Colombo.

“When the government has started a new journey to win the children’s world for them, writers such as Sybil Wettasinghe who remove harmful things from the minds of children and nurture their creativity through writings should be born in the future too”, the President said.

Five new books written by Mrs. Sybil Wettasinghe were also launched at this occasion.

Deputy Managing Director of M. D. Gunasena Company offered a Pansiya Panas Jathaka book to President.

President Sirisena presented a souvenir book, created by M. D. Gunasena Company for the birth anniversary of Mrs. Wettasinghe.

Veteran songstress Nanda Malini, Somarathna Dissanayake and Niranjala sarojini participated in this anniversary celebrations.
