    Govt to protect rights of free education for every child – President Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena says the aim of the new government is to end disparity in education and protect the rights of free education for every child.

    The President was addressing the prize giving ceremony of Samudradavi Balika Vidyalaya, Nugegoda on Wednesday (Oct. 28).

     

    The President emphasized that the government is working with special attention on increasing the education level of the children in the areas where they faced with LTTE terrorism and natural disasters. “Their level of education will be increased to the level of the children in other areas”. He said.

     

    President Sirisena stated it is everyone’s responsibility to give the good results of free education to every child in the country. “It is the responsibility of the parents to encourage the children for education while the government is providing required facilities to them”, the President said.

     

    “The government’s objective is to enhance the literacy of the people living in all nine provinces. We also expect to increase the literacy of  all people in the country to 100 per cent, through education plans of the future”, he stated.

     

    The President presented the awards and gifts to the students of the Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, who demonstrated excellent skills in 2014. He also vested the Aesthetic Center with the students at this occasion.

     

    Minister Susil Premajayantha, Chief Minister of Western Province Isura Dewapriya and Province Minister Gamini Thilakasiri also participated in this occasion.
