    Top priority to build a better country for our future generations – President Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that the most important work of the new Government is to build a better country for our future generations.

    The President further said that all the avenues will open for all children in the country to reach international levels as well as the National levels.

     

    He made these observations participating in the closing ceremony of All Island Schools Game, 2015 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama yesterday (12).

     

    “The Government will allocate more funds in the next Budget for the development of education of this country than the previous decades”, the President said.

     

    It is the responsibility of principals and teachers, to commit themselves to create good students who have wisdom with good qualities and who can be a good citizen of the country, by utilizing the resources given by the government, the President Sirisena said this adding that much needed changes for the education field is being implemented under the new government.

     

    The President received a rousing and warm welcome by the students at the event. The A group of 19 Cadets of the Sri Lankan National Cadet Corps accorded a Guard of Honour to the President.

     

    The President also presented prizes and awards to to the students for their achievements.

     

    Minister of Education- Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Mr. W.M. Bandusena- Secretary of Ministry of Education and others participated in the event.
