20A will be passed in Parliament soon - Minister Rajitha Senaratne

The 20th Amendment will be passed in Parliament soon. The independent commissions will cut down politicians' powers which were used to discriminate people, said Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne while addressing a ceremony in Kalutara to commence construction work of a four storey building complex at the Kalutara General Hospital at a cost of Rs. 40 million.

Minister Senaratne said in the past, people within the Sri Lanka Freedom Party killed late Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike. Similar type of people are still in the SLFP. They are now trying to safeguard themselves because they need to cover up their corrupt past.

"We supported former President Mahinda Rajapaksa because he started a giant war against terrorism. We betrayed our party (UNP) at that time to save the country," he said. He added: "If people take wrong political decisions, they will fall into trouble. Some politicians bring their children into politics but the children do not know anything about politics."

Minister Senaratne said some politicians opened new companies after coming into politics but he had to close down his company after coming to politics.
