The President visited the Gangaramaya Temple this morning (14) on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Chief Incumbent Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Nayaka Thera and inquired about his wellbeing.
The President then signed the proclamation document related to the development of the Hunupitiya Gangarama Vihara, which is highly revered by Buddhist devotees both locally and internationally, and declared it as a place of worship in order to preserve it for future generations.
The Maha Sangha led by the Venerable Dr Kirinde Assaji Thera of the Gangaramaya, former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Member of Parliament Faizer Mustapha, President's Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, Managing Director of Upali Group Nimal Welgama and many others were among those who attended this event.
