A brief ceremony had been organized to launch the book titled ‘The Conflict that Eluded Peace’ written by Gen. Shantha Kottegoda (Retd).
The book epitomizes a discourse on the three-decade long war in Sri Lanka and its end.
In his master piece of writing, the author makes an immense contribution to the Sri Lanka’s military history while recalling the heroic deeds of true sons and daughters of the Armed Services, Civil Defence Force, Police and the innocent people who seem to have been forgotten between the pages of history.
Gen. Kottegoda presented the copy of the book to Defence Secretary Gen. Gunaratne and the guests during the ceremony.
The author of the book, Gen. Kottegoda was once a Commander of the Sri Lanka Army during the humanitarian operations took place in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Brazil and Thailand and the former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.
The ceremony organized strictly complying to the stipulated healthcare guidelines saw a limited number of invitees including Maj. Gen. AED Wijendra (Retd) as the Chief Guest.

AMU Senevirathne (Retd), Maj. Gen. SM de A Rajapakshe (Retd), Maj. Gen. NR Marambe (Retd), Maj. Gen. GBW Jayasundara (Retd), Maj. Gen. NA Jayasooriya (Retd), Maj. Gen. PP de Silva (Retd), Maj. Gen. LM Mudalige (Retd), Maj. Gen. Nandana Senadeera (Retd) and senior officers of the defence circle were also present.
