Minister Gunawardena drew the attention of the Ambassador to the methods for developing Sri Lanka’s mutually important economic, social, cultural and educational cooperation that exist with Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, and Uzbekistan.
The Minister emphasized that all Ambassadors abroad representing the Sri Lankan Government should work in harmony and cooperation with foreign countries to enhance investment cooperation to revive Sri Lanka's economy, which has been crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa pointed out that many countries, including Russia, are interested in cooperating with Sri Lanka, due to Sri Lanka's non-aligned foreign policy. The Ambassador further stated that agreements have been reached with Russia and related countries to assist in many development and service activities in Sri Lanka in the future.
