Today is Bak Full Moon Poya Day which commemorates the visit of Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka which took place in the fifth year of Lord Buddha's Supreme Enlightenment.
This was Lord Buddha's second visit to Sri Lanka.
As the Mahavamsa exhibits, during Lord Buddha's second visit to Sri Lanka, he visited Nagadeepa to solve the feud between two groups belonging to the Naga community, (one group led by King Mahodara and the other group led by King Mahodara's nephew, Chulodara) and bring peace to the land by preaching the Dhamma sermons.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
